Structural Projects

	The City of Jacksonville contracted with CSI to design and prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a new connector bridge. CSI provided conceptual to final design services for this new connector bridge between Alta Drive and Yellow Bluff Road over Rushing Branch, including conducting Public Awareness meetings. Structural and roadway elements of the project involved the design of the bridge and of the roadway for the bridge approaches. The bridge is 450 feet long, consisting of ten 45-foot spans using pre-stressed AASHTO Type II beams supported on pre-stressed pile bents. Hydrologic and hydraulic conditions in both pre- and post-development scenarios were modeled using the ICPR program. Both wet and dry detention systems were designed for this project in accordance with methodology and criteria established by the St. Johns River Water Management District and the City of Jacksonville. These systems were designed to provide attenuation and treatment of stormwater runoff. Minimizing environmental impacts was a primary concern since the bridge traverses a sensitive ecosystem in a saltwater marsh. It was also necessary to coordinate these issues with the US Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to the bridge, roadway, and drainage design, CSI was also responsible for the preparation of utility adjustment sheets, specifications, permits, and documents needed for the City to acquire necessary right-of-way.
