CSI completed the replacement of Bridge No. 764007 on CR 309D over Etonia Creek in Putnam County, Florida — delivering a modern, durable two-span structure while keeping traffic flowing throughout construction.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This bridge replacement project enhanced a vital crossing over Etonia Creek in Putnam County, Florida. By utilizing prestressed Florida Slab Beam construction and precast concrete pile bents, the project delivered a resilient, low-maintenance structure built to modern standards. The two-phase construction sequence — supported by temporary traffic signals — minimized disruption to the traveling public and maintained safe access for the surrounding community throughout the build.
Project Highlights & Key Outcomes
Two-span bridge, each span measuring 53'-4", built with 15" prestressed Florida Slab Beams (FSB)
6½" composite concrete overlay for a smooth, long-lasting riding surface
Substructure built on 18" square precast concrete pile bents for a strong, efficient foundation
Phased construction approach — the bridge was built in two phases to maintain continuous traffic flow
Temporary traffic signals installed to safely manage one-lane traffic during each construction phase
