The purpose of this Rails to Trails project is to construct a roughly 40-mile 12-foot trail from Lake City to St. Augustine.

CSI designed the section of the Rails to Trails starting at Roberts Lane and ending at the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) office for 6.5 miles along the abandoned railroad bed parallel with SR 100.

CSI developed construction plans for the trail, 291 ft long bridge design, box culvert design, drainage design, maintenance of traffic, permitting, signing & pavement markings, utility coordination, and construction cost estimating.

CSI provided design services for the SR 100 Rails to Trails project in Putnam County.  The project included the design of a 291-foot-long pedestrian bridge to be constructed in place of an existing railroad trestle bridge.  The bridge consisted of 3 97-foot spans.  The bridge was a pre-engineered truss.  CSI provided design criteria and substructure design.

CSI also provided the design of a concrete box culvert replacement to replace the existing structurally deficient pipe culvert. Services included bridge design, trail design, bridge hydraulics, cost estimates, and environmental permitting.

CSI conducted preliminary structural analysis on multiple span arrangement alternatives for the bridge replacement.
