Lake Butler Trail
Lake Butler Trail – Putnum County, FL
Florida Department of Transportation, District 2
CSI provided design services for the SR 100 Rails to Trails project in Putnam County. The project included the design of a 291-foot-long pedestrian bridge to be constructed in place of an existing railroad trestle bridge. The bridge consisted of 3 97-foot spans. The bridge was a pre-engineered truss. CSI provided design criteria and substructure design.
CSI also provided the design of a concrete box culvert replacement to replace the existing structurally deficient pipe culvert. Services included bridge design, trail design, bridge hydraulics, cost estimates, and environmental permitting.
Holloway Road
Holloway Road – Putnum County, FL
Putnam County Public Works / FDOT District 2 (SCOP funded)
The purpose of this project was new construction of Holloway Road from dirt road to asphalt pavement from SR 100 to Tinsley Road for 3.568 miles in Putnam County. CSI prepared the design plans from SR 100 to Tinsley Road.
SR 13 San Jose Blvd
San Jose Blvd Project | Jacksonville, FL | FDOT District 2
This project involved 2.29 miles of milling and resurfacing along State Road 13 (San Jose Boulevard) in Duval County, Florida, extending from south of Interstate 295 to north of Sunbeam Road. SR 13 is a critical arterial connecting suburban communities to downtown Jacksonville, carrying in excess of 66,000 vehicles per day.
FEATURED CASE STUDY
Duval County Courthouse
Civil & Roadway Design | Jacksonville, FL
CSI served as a key design-build team member for the 800,000 SF Duval County Courthouse in downtown Jacksonville, Florida — one of the most complex civic infrastructure projects in the region.
CSI's scope included civil site design, roadway design, and stormwater drainage, highlighted by the full realignment of Monroe Street to accommodate the courthouse entrance. Utility design encompassed potable water distribution and sanitary sewer collection systems, with permitting coordinated across multiple agencies including the City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
A core engineering challenge was maximizing the use of existing in-place structures to minimize costs — requiring extensive coordination across all design disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
